Volume pricing explained

We reward trainers who grow their business on MatchMyTrainer. Once you pass £3,000 in bookings and packages in a calendar month, all additional transactions that month are charged at 8% instead of 10%.

Example: £5,000/month
  • First £3,000 at 10% = £300
  • Next £2,000 at 8% = £160
  • Total fees: £460 (vs £500 at flat 10%)

What trainers get for the fee

  • Cancellation policy enforcement — no awkward conversations or chasing payments.
  • No-show protection — payment captured before the session.
  • Package tracking — sell blocks without spreadsheets.
  • Calendar and availability management.
  • Easy checkout for clients (Apple Pay, Google Pay) — fewer drop-offs.
  • Payment processing fees absorbed — no surprise deductions.

What clients see vs what trainers see

Clients
  • Under £20: listed price + 50p booking fee.
  • £20+: listed price, no booking fee.
  • Packages: listed price, no booking fee.
Trainers
  • Your payout is your price minus the platform fee (10%, or 8% at volume).
  • No separate "Stripe fee" line item.
  • You stay in control of your pricing.

How we compare

We believe trainers should keep more of what they earn. Here's how MatchMyTrainer compares to other platforms:

Platform type
Typical take rate
MatchMyTrainer
10% (8% at volume)
Fitness aggregators
30–50%
Studio management software
£100–300/month flat

Worked examples

These examples are illustrative. Processor fees vary by card type and configuration, but the trainer payout calculation stays simple.

£8 class
Client pays
£8.50 (£8 + 50p)
Trainer receives
£7.20 (£8 − 10%)
£45 session
Client pays
£45 (no booking fee)
Trainer receives
£40.50 (£45 − 10%)
£200 package
Client pays
£200 (no booking fee)
Trainer receives
£180 (£200 − 10%)

Why there’s a 50p booking fee under £20

Card payment providers typically charge a fixed fee (for example, around 20p) plus a percentage. On low-value bookings (such as classes), fixed costs take a bigger bite. The 50p booking fee helps keep low-value bookings sustainable while keeping trainer fees simple.

Payment provider

We use Stripe for payments because it supports card payments and easy checkout options like Apple Pay and Google Pay, as well as marketplace payouts to trainers. All payments are processed securely through Stripe. By using our payment features, you also agree to Stripe's Terms of Service and Privacy Policy.
