Payments and fees

MatchMyTrainer is free to join, with no monthly software fee. Trainers pay commission on paid bookings and package purchases, with payment processing included. Clients pay a 50p booking fee on individual paid bookings below £20.

Volume pricing explained

Your monthly total includes successful session and package payments. Individual bookings and one-off packages are charged at 10% up to £3,000, then 8% on the portion above that. If a payment takes you over the threshold, we split that payment between the two rates. Earlier payments stay at their original rate, and the monthly total starts again each calendar month.

Example: £5,000 in individual bookings and one-off packages
  • First £3,000 at 10% = £300
  • Next £2,000 at 8% = £160
  • Total fees: £460 (vs £500 at flat 10%)

Recurring client packages

Recurring packages use a single 10% or 8% commission rate per payment, rather than splitting one payment across both rates. The rate is set when the subscription starts and reviewed after each renewal for the next payment. The worked examples on this page cover individual bookings and one-off packages.

What clients pay and trainers receive

Clients
  • Individual paid bookings below £20: booking price + 50p.
  • Bookings of £20 or more: no client booking fee.
  • Free bookings and package purchases: no client booking fee.
Trainers
  • You receive the booking or package price minus MMT’s commission.
  • The client’s 50p fee does not reduce your share.
  • No separate card-processing fee is deducted from your share.
  • You stay in control of your pricing.

Why there’s a 50p booking fee under £20

Small payments still have processing costs. The 50p client fee helps cover those costs on paid individual bookings below £20, including class places. It is added once per booking payment, not per session when a client uses an existing pack.

  • Your own shareable booking page and a profile in the MMT marketplace.
  • Bookings for one-to-one sessions, group classes, and online training.
  • Class capacity and attendee lists, so you can see who has booked.
  • Session-pack sales and tracking of the sessions used.
  • Schedules, unavailable times, and calendar subscriptions.
  • Online payments through Stripe, with card-processing costs included.
  • Cancellation settings and booking records in one place.

Payment provider

Stripe processes card payments and handles payouts to trainers. Apple Pay and Google Pay may also appear at checkout, depending on the device, browser, and payment setup. A client payment and a payout to your bank are separate steps; your Stripe account shows your available balance and payout schedule. Read Stripe's Terms of Service and Privacy Policy.
