Terms of service

These terms apply when you use MatchMyTrainer (the “Service”). By using the Service, you agree to these terms.

Overview

MatchMyTrainer helps clients discover trainers and make bookings. We are a platform provider. Trainers are responsible for delivering their services safely and professionally.

Service availability

We are continually improving the Service. We may change, add, or remove features from time to time and cannot guarantee uninterrupted availability.

Accounts

  • You must be at least 18 years old to create an account.
  • Keep your account details accurate and up to date.
  • You are responsible for activity under your account.
  • We may suspend accounts for misuse or abuse.

Bookings, cancellations, and refunds

When you book a session, this creates a booking request. Some bookings may be auto-confirmed based on trainer settings.

Payments for bookings, packages, and subscriptions are processed through the Service using our payment provider (Stripe).

If you need to change or cancel a booking, contact the trainer as early as possible. For refund and cancellation rules, see Refunds and cancellations.

Recurring subscriptions

Some trainers offer subscription packages with recurring billing (weekly or monthly). When you subscribe, you agree to be charged automatically each billing period until you cancel.

  • Each billing period you receive a set number of sessions to use with that trainer. Unused sessions do not roll over to the next period — this is confirmed before you subscribe.
  • You can cancel a subscription at any time. Cancellations take effect at the end of the current billing period — you keep access to any remaining sessions until then.
  • If a recurring payment fails, your subscription may be paused or cancelled. We (through Stripe) will attempt to collect payment before taking further action.
  • Subscription pricing and session allocations are set by the trainer and may change for future billing periods. Any changes will not affect your current period.

Reviews

Reviews are for verified bookings only. We may remove reviews that are abusive, irrelevant, or unlawful.

Trainer responsibilities

Trainers operate as independent professionals, not employees or agents of MatchMyTrainer. We do not control how trainers deliver their services.

Trainers are responsible for the accuracy of their listings and for delivering their services safely and legally. This includes holding and maintaining any required qualifications, certifications, and insurance (such as public liability and professional indemnity insurance).

Qualification verification

Trainers may optionally upload qualification documents (such as certifications, insurance policies, and DBS checks) for review. When a document is submitted, we perform a visual review to check that the document appears to match the stated qualification. If it passes review, the qualification is marked as "verified" and a badge is shown on the trainer's public profile.

Verification means we have reviewed a document provided by the trainer. It does not mean we have independently confirmed its authenticity with the issuing body, conducted background checks, or made any guarantee about the trainer's competence, fitness to practise, or suitability.

Trainers represent that the documents they upload are genuine, current, and accurately reflect their qualifications. Uploading fraudulent or misleading documents is a breach of these terms and may result in account suspension.

Clients should use verified qualifications as one factor when choosing a trainer, but should satisfy themselves that a trainer is appropriately qualified before booking. The absence of a verified badge does not necessarily mean a trainer is unqualified — they may simply not have uploaded their documents yet.

Health and fitness disclaimer

Training services involve physical activity and carry inherent risks. Before beginning any exercise programme, you should consult a medical professional if you have any health concerns or pre-existing conditions. MatchMyTrainer is not responsible for any injury, illness, or health condition arising from training sessions booked through the platform.

Limitation of liability

MatchMyTrainer provides a booking and discovery platform. We do not provide training services ourselves and we are not responsible for the acts or omissions of trainers or clients. Nothing in these terms limits liability where it cannot be excluded under applicable law.

Indemnification

Trainers agree to indemnify and hold harmless MatchMyTrainer, its officers, directors, and employees from any claims, damages, losses, or expenses (including legal fees) arising from the services they provide through the platform or any breach of these terms.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales.
