About MatchMyTrainer

A booking platform built for UK personal trainers and the people looking for them.

Why this exists

I quit social media a few years ago. When I wanted to find a personal trainer near me, I quickly realised how difficult that is without Facebook or Instagram. Those platforms have become the default way trainers advertise, but if you're not on them, you're effectively locked out.

The alternative is approaching a trainer in the gym. If you're new to training, that can be nerve-wracking. And even if you work up the courage, most trainers are mid-session — so you either interrupt them or walk away. Neither feels great.

I've been training myself for over 10 years, so I know firsthand how much difference a good trainer makes. The problem wasn't a lack of trainers — it was that there was no simple way to find and book one. The idea came to me a couple of years ago: an Uber- or Airbnb-style marketplace, but for personal trainers. It just makes sense.

What MatchMyTrainer does

MatchMyTrainer is an open marketplace where anyone can browse personal trainers in their area, see real prices and availability, and book instantly. No social media accounts, no messaging back and forth, no guesswork.

Built for trainers

This isn't just a directory. Trainers get their own booking page they can share anywhere: Instagram, WhatsApp, their website. Clients book and pay upfront. Cancellation policies are enforced automatically. Packages are tracked without spreadsheets. It's designed to make the business side of personal training easier so trainers can focus on what they actually do.

Built for clients

For clients, it's straightforward. Filter by specialty, location, and budget. See upfront pricing, verified reviews from real bookings, verified qualifications, and live availability. Book a session, a class, or a package, and pay securely. No awkward conversations, no chasing replies.

What makes MatchMyTrainer different

No monthly fees. Trainers pay 10% commission only when they earn, dropping to 8% above £3,000/month. No signup fees, no branding fees, no lock-in. Most competing platforms charge £30–£70/month regardless of whether the trainer is earning.

Every review comes from a completed, paid booking. No anonymous reviews, no mates leaving five stars. Cancellation policies are set by the trainer and enforced automatically by the platform. Payments are captured upfront through Stripe, so no-shows don't cost trainers money.

This is a UK-focused platform. Prices are in pounds, the trainers are in UK cities, and the product is designed for how independent PTs in the UK actually work.

A professional build

I'm a DevOps engineer with 14 years in the tech industry, across support, infrastructure, and software engineering. Fitness is my passion; building things is my profession. MatchMyTrainer sits right at that intersection. This isn't a weekend side project or a no-code template. It's a properly engineered platform, designed from the ground up for UK trainers and their clients.
